This holiday season has had its moments of incidents, accidents, bumps and bruises, emergency hospital visits, because I was ill and comical mishaps. If I didn’t know better I would think I was in a movie.

I go to Shades Mountain Baptist Church in Vestavia, Alabama. For weeks Sunday School members had been asking me about baking cookies for the women’s prison ministry that I do. My comical moments all started with the day that I was supposed to collect 3,000 plus cookies, that were so lovingly baked, sorted, counted and bagged, for the Montgomery Women’s Facility. I was set up in the very large area at our church called, The Fellowship Hall. I loved being down there. I actually, thought about all of the meetings that has taken place there and nostalgic memorable moments featuring our pastor, Danny Woods.

Now, I love driving to Montgomery, Alabama to do this every year. We call this the “Yummies For The Tummies” project. But, on this day it seemed as if my car, which I call, Red Chili Pepper, was having a few problems. I got an oil change and I was given good news, but it sputtered as I fought unbelievable traffic woes on the way to the prison. I got to the prison almost 40 minutes late, but the smiles on 300 beautiful women made it all worth while. But, on the way home, Red Chili Pepper, was not truly in the mood to take me home. I did arrive in my garage safely, but the next morning, she refused to budge and would not let me take the key out of the ignition. Red Chili Pepper had a heart attack (dead battery)

After a full day of respite, I got Red Chili Pepper a new heart (new battery). She proudly drove me to work the next day and just as I was making my way up towards my office, I had a terrible fall with my pocket book and briefcase flying in the air. As a friend was asking me if I was alright, deep down inside my mind, I was laughing my heart out at all of what should have been problems, instead I saw it all as, “This is all happening to me and I’m going to get a hearty laugh out of it!”

So find a moment to laugh and it will surely help make your burdens much lighter.

Have a fantastic day filled with laughter.
