I am happy to say that I am in my third trimester of life. I am in my 60’s and loving it. It is the time in my life that patience has earned its award. I am not as anxious and I appreciate pacing myself and being particular about who I havre in my life. In the film business I realize there is always something that I can do. I love the process of filmmaking. I love the struggle and I especially love yo see how the industry is changing.
I still see today the panic from young people who frown at the thought of turning thirty. They get blindsided about age and forget to focus on their dreams. If you want to live, you will age. There is no way around it. In my lifetime, I’ve seen some people live the dream they’ve always wanted after their fifties. It’s easy to get caught up in youth, but wisdom is gained in time and in life experiences.
In the film industry, it might seem as if a great talent has walked away in their old age to await the grave, but in reality, many great stars are multitalented. Some start new businesses or work behind the scenes, producing some of the greatest movies we’ve ever seen. So don’t fight aging … embrace it.
