It’s that time of year when we hear the buzz about the upcoming film festivals. There are literally thousands of festivals a year. How do you mow through all of the happenings and find what’s right for you. May I suggest that you go search on FilmFreeway. While you’re searching look for festivals that fits the kind of film that you want to enter. When you find that amazing match. Now comes the next step. Can you afford the fees and can you afford the trip. Take my word for it. Do to go to festival broke. Consider all of your options as far as room and board, food, travel expenses, public transportation or car rental.
Another word to the wise, be aware of con artists and scam artist that linger around crowds. Keep your personal items close to your body by wearing a backpack, which I usually see a lot of people doing. Some people have hidden pockets in their jackets. Women should be aware of how they handle pocketbooks and the wearing of expensive jewelry. Now with the scary part out of the way … have fun.
On the search for the perfect festivals, make phone calls or email contacts with the people running the festival. If you can, volunteer at the ones that interest you and get a feel for how a festival may be just right for you. In the mean time, research, prepare, and enjoy.
